FORTUNA WATERFALL

This unforgettable adventure begins with an hour horseback riding through beautiful trails where the panoramic views surround the area. A local guide will join you during the trip, combining the ride with and exciting bike down to the swimming hole. There you will find huge rocks where you can sit and relax before hiking back up.

The spectacular waterfall and the lush forest gives a sample of the rich nature that abounds in this zone. We recommend this tour for people in good physical condition. Take a bathing suit, towel, long pants and hiking shoes.

CAÑO NEGRO WILDLIFE REFUGE

This tour stars with an approximately two-hour drive to Los Chiles. Our guide will describe the most important sights along the way including orange groves, and fields of papaya, passion fruit, yucca, cacao, ornamental plants, and sugar cane. On arrival in Los Chiles we will take a 15 minute break at a small local restaurant before continuing the tour.

After the break we will take a two hour ride up the Frio River in a covered boat to the entrance of the refuge. Along the way we will be able to see some of many species that inhabit the area such as sloth’s, iguanas, caimans, lizards, bats, three kinds of monkeys as well as a wide variety of flora and birds.

PEÑAS BLANCAS RIVER FLOATING TOUR

From La Fortuna we will take a twenty minutes drive to the Peñas Blancas River to start the tour. Here we will start our trip of approximately two hours in an inflatable raft (no motor) on the lower, slower moving section of the river. You will be able to hear the sounds of nature as our guide describes the flora and fauna of the region. During this time it is also possible to see howler monkeys, crocodiles, toucans, two species of sloth’s and different bird species.

Once we complete this first part of the tour its time to visit the farm of Don Pedro where he and his family will be waiting for us. You will be able to shake his hand, calloused from years of hand work, and while you enjoy a snack you will be able to ask Don Pedro and his family questions which will invariably be answered with a smile. After visit with Don Pedro we will journey into the farm’s Primary Tropical Rain Forest. There we will find trees over 100 years old and have the opportunity to see the Blue Jean Frog (Dendrobates pumilio).

ARENAL VOLCANO RAINFOREST SURROUNDINGS

We start with 25-minute drive to the West side of the Arenal Volcano, where we will hike through the rainforest. During the hike it is possible to see many plants, birds and other animal species that call the rainforest home. Through out this exciting tour you will be reminded of the power of nature each time you hear the volcano’s activity.

We will get close enough so that you can enjoy the eruptions of the volcano, but always from a safe distance. After that, we will take you to a viewpoint where you can watch the volcano while enjoying a drink.
